I was over at the Apple store on Knox in Dallas and took a few shots of the Steve Jobs tribute. Not as many as in the home stores in California...but a nice little tribute. At first I was like...

what's up with the apples...duh...

Then is was on to one of our favorite pass times...playing with the equipment. She really wants that IPAD....not!

Its funny how we learn so much more about people after their death. Reading all of the Steve Jobs articles have helped me understand why I love my MAC so much. Anyone who knows me will tell you..."I love my MAC," I love it more than...hmmm more than most things. A few things caught my eye right away. He liked simplicity...just keep it simple...that's my MAC...it's just easy. Sometimes I out think myself, then realize...oh, its just that easy. I've also learned that he was concerned with the appearance of the MAC. He wanted it to look good. I have said many mornings, if nothing else...I sure like looking at it...(Steve, mission accomplished). An article I read last night noted that Apple certainly does not have the market share of the PC world...but that was never his intension. He just wanted Apple to be great! Again...mission accomplished. I can relate to that philosophy in my business. I don't have to photograph every wedding or dominate the portrait world...I just want my work to be great, and the people I have he honor of working for to be amazed. Steve Jobs...you will be missed, but I am sure you left your legacy and values with Apple. Therefore, we should continue be amazed by Apple's products and services.

April's Fairytale

It's been a while since I'd done a session at Versailles Park. But, April always dreamed of a fairytale wedding and she wanted a scene that reflected that vision. I must admit this is one of the most beautiful gazebos in Dallas...so I had to return to what I consider my first love.

April was married on September 24...therefore, I am free to show some of her bridal portraits.

Anyone waiting for that special someone? Here is a great love story.

A couple of years ago I photographed an engagement session for a handsome couple planning to marry within the next year. Well, the wedding was postponed. I thought nothing of it, as I've seen this happen a few times. Usually, the feet unthaw and we're back with the wedding plans. Well, the bride calls me one day excited about her upcoming wedding. I congratulate the bride and her fiance' on their upcoming nuptials. But April says...NO!! I'm marrying Robert. Robert is not the guy she was engaged to the last time we spoke. Well, of course she had to tell me how all of this came about. So, if things didn't work out the way you thought...don't worry...get back out there and you will meet your Robert real soon...here are a few images from their engagement session taken at the Fair Park in southern Dallas.

Fall into Family Portraits

Now that we've made it through the brutal summer above average temperatures...and FALL is in the air...Its time to gather the family together for family portraits. Fall is one of my favorite seasons because of the colorful foliage. This portrait below is one of my favs...as it did pretty well in competition. But I look forward to capturing more award winning portraits this fall.

Neicy and her son, Nick are moving into their new home soon. I am so excited because they are decorating with the family portraits recently taken. I had an absolutely great time meeting Nick and watching him play the drums for me. Here are some of the portraits from their session.

I believe this is considered Kidd Spring Park in Oak Cliff.

Neicy juggles a busy schedule as a nurse, a sophisticated diva and most importantly, a busy mom keeping up with her little drummer boy.

I really love when my clients come back for more...I met the Haywood family a couple of years ago when we did the daughter Morgan's senior portraits. This, however, was a special portrait session because Nick, the son, is serving in the military and has now been deployed to Saudi Arabia. They wanted to capture this special moment in their family history. I could feel the pride they felt for their brave son/brother. We went downtown to Dealey Plaza in Dallas' city park. The plaza is named for George Bannerman Dealey who was an early publisher of the Dallas Morning News and civic leader and the man who campaigned for the area's revitalization. The Dealey Plaza Historic District was named a National Historic Landmark in 1993 to preserve the area as it is the location of the assignation of Pres. John Fl Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963 (just a little Dallas history). I thought this was a great location to honor their son.

We came back to the studio for a few formal shots...informally formal.

Speaking of service men. The Adams' men bravely serve our city. You remember Roderick and Richard...it wasn't long ago that they were in the studio for college graduation portraits. The twins decided to follow in their father's footsteps by serving our city. Roderick is now a Dallas Firefighter and Richard is an officer with the Dallas Police Dept. Before I could do this special father/son session, I had to make sure I had no outstanding tickets or warrants. I was clean, therefore, I preceded with the session with wife/mom Tammy proudly watching her brave men. I know you're asking...are they single? Well sort of...they are not yet married, but closely guarded by their girlfriends.

It was a great pleasure to photograph the Tate Family. Mr. and Mrs. Tate are pictured below. They have three beautiful adult children and four grandchildren. I've known their daughter Nicole for many years. I met her at church in Spiritual Growth class and soon after she introduced me to a friend of hers who later became her husband. They now have three handsome sons. I also had the honor of photographing the youngest daughter, Candace's wedding a couple of years ago.

Oh!....and lets not forget the Holiday Season coming up. I look forward to the Jacksons every year for portraits and Christmas cards. These are from last year...This year will be our 5th year of designing fabulous cards for their family. I have something special planned and can't wait.

First Comes Love, then Comes Marriage...then Comes My Bride with a Baby Carriage

It is always such a privilege to be allowed into the lives of so many wonderful people. As a photographer, I often have the pleasure of following my clients through their most important life events. I often go from the wedding, to the maternity, to the baby...then an awesome family portrait is right around the corner. I am not yet old enough to have gone from baby to high school senior portrait...but just give me some time. I last had the pleasure of photographing Baby Cassidy. She is the new daughter of a bride from a few years ago...Nichole...and Antoine.

From elegant Bride, to maternity, to amazing Mom...and Dad. Thanks Nichole and Antoine for allowing me to be a part of your lives. I believe the Ofokaire's were married in 2005...but it seems just like yesterday that we had Baby Oluchi (click here to see her first breathe portrait) introduce her new little sister Oreoluwa...

This is Oluchi...and below is Oluchi with her little sister Oreoluwa.

Now, this is Baby Aya...she is the niece of Jemilat Ofokaire...above. She came to visit her sister all the way from Africa just so that she could have SW take her baby's first portrait. Well, mainly to visit her sister...but she was excited to have a baby portrait similar to her sister's.

I had to add Nicole Livingston...she is one of my earlier brides...and I used her on my business cards for a while...I don't have a digital portrait of her because it was at the end of the film era. FILM...you remember that...right...f-i-l-m...I know...the new generation have never heard of it. It was a time many years ago when you couldn't look at the back of the camera for an instant image. Yes, you had to wait...hmmm patience...a lost art. Anyway, Nicole now has three boys...she was fruitful and she multiplied...as says the Lord.

Lastly...but certainly not least, my daughter graduated

with honors from Hampton University...2010.

This was an exciting time, especially with

President Barack Obama delivering their

commencement. It wasn't all fun and games as

we had to arrive at the campus at 6:30 am...for

a 10am graduation...very cool weather for May...lucky for us it started a

little early. Above is a picture of her under the infamous "Emancipation Oak",

This is where the slaves in Virginia gathered to learn of their freedom.

The sad news was that the security instructions were

not clear...and I didn't know if I could bring my

super long lens...I opted to leave it...so I could only

get a close-up shot of him on the screen.

Check out the snipers on the roof.

We had a chance to visit Virginia Beach and hang out with

my cousin...who is in the navy stationed in Norfolk/Hampton.

A very proud little sister...

of my daughter while she was so far from home.

Dallas Covered in Snow

Dallas tends to have unpredictable winters. Sometimes its a litttle too warm for winter...a few days of too cold (for us). We're used to some snow and ice that lasts maybe a day. But this year's snow reminded me of an east coast winter. Of course, we enjoyed the novelty, at first, but after a few days of trees giving in to the weight of the snow and interrupted power and cable...we'd had enough. I was able to get out and photograph what may be a historical winter for Dallas....The first picture of above is in Winnetka Heights, in Oak Cliff....the trees and the lamp-post covered in snow is definitely not the norm for Dallas scenery. Below, is a beautiful Winnetka Heights home covered in snow.

to the Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff...below is Eno's pizza.

My daughter and I take an ice cream break at Espumoso Coffee & Juice Bar. Yes, ice cream in the snow, with no shoes...hmmm...Afterwards, we got a shot of Hunkys...my favorite for hamburgers/turkey burgers and tater tots...onion rings...

On the way home, we checked out the Dart rail...moving along smoothly.

Now once we got home...the real fun began. We pushed at least 6-7 cars up our hill. Yes, there are hills in Dallas...only in the 'Cliff''. I was number two...once we were safely up the hill, we helped our neighbors. Check us out... Just because I'm behind the camera doesn't mean I wasn't helping...

We even had to give the mail truck a little push.

This is our neighborhood snow storm team...

Now, for some family fun...

We definitely took advantage of the snow...who knows when

we will ever see this much snow again.

What are those palm trees doing at the Statue of Liberty???

Its because I'm in LAS VEGAS...I atttended the

Wedding Portrait Photographers International (WPPI)

Convention. I learned some new things...got some

fresh ideas...and was totally inspired while having

a great time in Las Vegas.

Prayerfully, I will have an opportunity to see the real

Eiffel Tower in Paris, France...but for now the

Las Vegas replica will do. It was great!

Gigi and her son GeKauri. I don't usually

work on Sunday, but I couldn't resist...

Family Winter Vacation

but its double pane it keeps the air outside...

The new in thing is to find an urban location for

the Wedding Party portrait. Well since we were

hanging out in the PG (Pleasant Grove) we didn't

have to go far. We had a great time even though

They are now expecting their first baby...

Braxton is Here...

Braxton Josiah Bernard was born

Nov. 18, 2008 7lbs. 5oz.

"Glory to God" was the parent's comment.

We thought we'd photograph him early (2 days old)

so that he would curl up in the fetal position...

but Braxton wasn't having it.

He was already too big and no longer wanted to curl.

I understand that he will be forced to

play football...and like the Dallas Cowboys.

We were checking out the urban scene in Dallas.

Did a little breaking and entering and trespassing. We were only
